Zombies, Werewolves, and Things with Wings

2011 Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults: Part IV: Zombies, Werewolves, and Things with Wings

While we all love vampire novels, we really thought we should highlight some the other supernatural creatures in popular paperbacks.

Zombies, Werewolves, and Things with Wings: Because vampires suck.

It’s time to celebrate creature diversity!  In this list we have brought together a great collection of magical creatures, creatures of ancient myths and the undead.  One of our favorites is Others by Karen Kincy; pookas, dryads, and werewolves… no Other is safe with hunters on the loose.  Kincy brings us a modern fantasy set in Washington State, this a great read for those who love magical creatures.  Another unique title that we love is Zombie Haiku: Good Poetry for Your…Brains by Ryan Mecum; who knew zombies could be so poetic?  If you ever wondered what was going on inside the rotting brain of zombie, you will love this book of haikus that shed some light on the inner workings of a decomposing mind.  So why not celebrate creature diversity by checking out what else made the list by visiting: www.ala.org/yalsa/booklists/poppaper
