2012 Best of the Best Reading Challenge check in #11

Not signed up for YALSA’s 2012 Best of the Best Reading Challenge? Read the official rules and sign up on the original post. Anything you’ve read since April 1 counts, so sign up now!

Well, this is the best week I have had since we started … and I finished one book. But it was a good one in How to Save a Life. I’ve read five books and if I am being honest that is probably as far as I am going to go. Annual is next week and I know I will be tempted with lots of shiny new books! I can’t help it.

Also hindering my process is my summer reading program. I launched the first ever teen summer reading program this past week and it has been more time intensive than I thought. I’ve having a lot of fun, but by the time I get home I just want to sit and zone out. Am I the only one?

I’m currently behind on everything since coming back from vacation so I may have missed this by has anyone read all 80 titles? How many of you have finished 25? Let me know how you are doing!

If you’ve finished the challenge by reading 25 books, fill out the following form to let us know. (The information you provide is what we’ll use to send you your Challenge Finisher badge, contact you about your reader’s response, and notify you if you win our grand prize drawing, so pick an email address you actually use!) Do not fill out this form until you have completed the challenge by reading 25 titles.

    Welcome back!!

While the website was on hiatus, I finished!! Holy cow. I always talk about being a slow reader, so I’m a little impressed with myself. Of course, the audio books and graphic novels helped things move along.

    My last few books:
Here Lies Bridget. I loved it! Another book that goes into the category of I wouldn’t have picked it up if not for this challenge.
Carter’s Big Break. It was okay. Loved Nick Podehl’s narration. The story was okay.
Bootleg. As someone who celebrates Repeal Day every year, I found it really interesting. I want more non-fiction like this and Wheels of Change for my library.
My Boyfriend’s a Monster: I Love Him to Pieces. Adorable!

That brought my total to 26. I have reviews for them all on Goodreads (

Thanks for offering this challenge. I really enjoyed it and read a lot that I would not have otherwise picked up. I also got back into using Goodreads on a regular basis.

I am going to be reading & listening like crazy to finish my final 3. I’ll be checking in LATE Saturday :) Good luck to everyone!!

    • You can keep reading through 11:59pm EST on Saturday, and we’re giving everyone until 11:59pm EST on Monday to check in. Good luck!

I finished the 25 titles last week. Yay! I’m so thankful that I took this challenged and finished it. It was a lot of fun and I picked up books that I wouldn’t have otherwise picked up. I read some amazing (and some not-so amazing) books. Thank you for the challenge and I look forward to next year!

I finished on Monday. Will there be some kind of confirmation once you’ve submitted your form? With the technical problems, I wanted to check to make sure mine actually went through.

    • When you submitted the form, you should have seen a message right then confirming we’d received your entry. I see you in the spreadsheet on our end, so you’re good! We’ll send you your badge early next week. :)

I did not get a confirmation, but if you see me, I’m not going to worry about it. Thanks for checking!
