When life gets hectic and things get complicated, you can always turn to a trusty Capricorn to help get you through. Born between December 22nd and January 19th, the dependable, strong, and no-nonsense Capricorns have much to celebrate. But don’t let their practical and determined natures fool you. Caps are known for their incredible sense of taste and style and don’t like to lose at any cost — kind of like the characters in these books that I think are perfect reading for those Caps who only desire the best things in life.

Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon (whose Newspaper Blackout Poetry was reviewed on The Hub)

stealAfter the popularity of a video of his speech to a community college about ten things he wished he had known when starting out, Austin Kleon went a step further and wrote a book based on that advice. More than just a how-to guide for starting out in any creative field, Kleon also talks about how to build creativity into your everyday life. Hardworking Capricorns who want to take their creative work to the next level will appreciate the guidance.

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood (2013 Best Fiction for Young Adults nominee)

Born WickedCate Cahill longs for a quiet and simple life taking care of her father and sisters. But when she find her late mother’s diary, her future does not look so simple. Her mother warns of forces that would expose Cate and her sisters’ deepest secret: that they are witches with strong powers. Not only must Cate protect her sisters from the Brotherhood, who want to destroy all witches, she must identify the people her mother tried to warn her about. Born Wicked is the first in a new trilogy, and Capricorns will definitely see themselves in hard-working and selfless Cate.

What other books would you recommend for the Capricorns in your life?
