2013 Hub Reading Challenge
YALSA’s 2013 Hub Reading Challenge runs from February 3 to June 22. Within that timeframe, read as many titles as you can from our official challenge list [pdf] (made up of YALSA’s 2013 award winners and honor books, YALSA’s 2013 selected list Top Ten titles, and the YA titles recognized by the 2013 Schneider Family Book Award and the 2013 Stonewall Book Award), keeping track of what you read. Once you’ve finished 25 titles, you’ll have finished our challenge.
Everyone who finishes the challenge will be invited to submit a reader’s response to any of the books that they read, which we’ll post on The Hub. Finishers will also automatically be entered to win our grand prize: a YALSA tote bag full of 2012 and 2013 YA lit titles! (Librarians, teachers, and other professionals will also receive a couple professional development titles.) If you read all 83 titles, you’ll be recognized as a Challenge Conquerer and awarded a special digital badge.
You may sign up for the challenge at any time by commenting on the original post (which also includes complete details and guidelines). Any of the eligible titles that you’ve read since February 3 (or read during our Morris/Nonfiction Reading Challenge) count toward your total. Keep us updated about your progress with a comment on our weekly check-in posts.
Good luck!

Can’t wait to read these!
Love a challenge!
Just finished “Ultimate Spiderman.” I’m not a Spiderman fan, or comics generally, but this one had a little more depth than the usual comic, so I’d rate it 3 of 5 stars compared to other fiction, but perhaps 4 of 5 compared to other comics I’ve seen.
Late start, but what a challenge!
Last week I read: Enchanted by Alethea Kontis and really enjoyed it! I’m working on Seraphina by Rachel Harman now.
