[Today’s teen guest post is by Abby W., a high school sophomore.]
I compared the contemporary teen novels — Unwind, The Maze Runner, and The Compound — by splitting the books up into a number of categories. I then highlighted the books with similar concepts in each topic with a color designated to each category.
To visualize these connections, I sorted each similarity into a Venn diagram, with colors representing each topic.
By comparing and contrasting these books, I found that the books portrayed a future in which a controversial topic becomes increasingly prevalent, eventually causing harm to society. A strong, male character fights to solve this problem, and puts himself at risk for the greater good.
