This is an opportunity for local teens to voice what they like or don’t like about both the books that did and did not make the final list, and to share their favorites! This list of nominated books, is located on the #BFYA2020 current nominations landing page on The Hub. Teens must read at least three of these titles to participate in the Teen Feedback Session on Saturday, January 25th 2020 from 1-2:30 pm.
We invite the teens to arrive Saturday morning so they have time to go through the Exhibit Hall. Then, at 11:30, there is a pizza luncheon with the teens and authors! The teens will get signed copies of books from the authors at the luncheon. After the luncheon, they head over to the Teen Feedback session, where they will give opinions on books. The Teen Feedback Session will be the culminating activity. Some members of the BFYA Blogging Team will be onsite while others will attend the session virtually. Teen feedback is an important factor in determining the final Top 10 Short list for the Best Fiction for Young Adults titles.
For more information, including how to apply to bring your teens, contact YALSA’s Youth Participation Coordinator Laura Matheny firstname.lastname@example.org. For those interested in having your teens attend the Teen Feedback session, you can find more information and the application here: The FAQ and link to the Youth Participation Application.
