Do you have a question that isn’t covered by our frequently asked questions? Leave it in the comments.

I missed an issue. Can I get a replacement?

YALS mails four times a year: January, April, July, and October. If you do not receive your YALS by the end of those months, please contact ALA’s Customer Service to have a replacement issue sent. You can contact ALA Customer service at
1-800-545-2433, option 5 or by email at customerservice@ala.org, 8:30am – 4:30pm (Monday-Friday).

How do I advertise?

Please consult the YALSA Media Kit (PDF) and contact YALSA’s ad rep, Bill Spilman, at bill@innovativemediasolutions.com.

How do I submit an article?

Please read over our submission guidelines and contact YALS Editor-in-Chief Megan Honig at yalseditor@gmail.com.

Does YALS review books? Can you read my novel?

YALS reviews professional materials only, including books and websites that help librarians, library staff, and educators with their careers and day-to-day duties. YALS does not review young adult books. If you are an author of a new book for teens, please read our Resources for Authors and Publishers.

How can I access the latest issue of YALS digitally?

If you are a subscriber or YALSA member, you can access the latest issue of YALS in YALSA’s  “Members Only” section on its website. Once at the members only section, you will have to log-in with your ALA account in order to access the content. Back issues of YALS (where available) can be accessed in the archive section of this website.

When is the latest issue available digitally?

Generally, the digital version is available about a week or two after you receive your print version. Announcements about the release of the digital version will be made on this site and also in the weekly YALSA E-Newsletter to its members.

Does YALS publish research articles?

YALS does not publish research articles. However, YALSA does have a research journal, The Journal of Research on Libraries and Young Adults, that does. Learn more here.

I have a question about my YALSA membership or can’t log in.

We’re happy to help! Please send your question to yalsa@ala.org or call us at 1-800-545-2433, ext. 4390.

  1. Is there a full online / digital version of the quarterly publication (YALSA YALS) ? I've been a member/subscriber since 2007 and I'd like to be able to get rid of my paper stacks and switch over to purely digital content. I see the Online Companion e-newsletter, and various of the articles but I'm not seeing a full version of the printed magazine itself…
    thanks much!

    • Hi Jack — no there is not a full online or digital version. We will post PDFs of each issue after an embargo for three months and a sneak peek at articles shortly before each issue mails. Let me know if you have any other questions!
