October is an exciting month for any YA lit fan, because it includes Teen Read Week! In honor of this annual celebration of young adult literature, YALSA invited book-loving teens all over the world to apply to share their enthusiasm for reading in a guest post for The Hub. Thirty-one talented young writers were chosen, and we’ll be featuring posts from these unique voices all month long. Today, we have a video post from Raelyn Browning.

– Raelyn Browning: Hi all! My name is Raelyn Browning, a teen with an addiction to red lipstick, good books, and caramel coffee. Thanks for listening to me blather on about reading- see you someday!

  1. I saw the anime long before I read the light novels, so I’m possibly a bit biased here, but I did enjoy the anime so much more. I think this may be because the anime is very Ghibli-esque in that there are no real “bad guys”. None of the people who are after Chagum really *want* to kill him, they just have to for the great good. Or so they think.

In both light novel and anime form it is a great story. It’s up there with “The Twelve Kingdoms”.

  2. Raelyn–you are hilarious! I have really not ever gotten into reading graphic novels, but your highly entertaining vlog made me want to pick up Moribito and give graphic novels a try. I especially like how Moribito revolves around a strong heroine…is that a rarity or is that common in anime/graphic novels?

Also, your vlog makes me want to have my own teen bloggers do their own blogs in video format because you are so animated and your fun personality really shines through.

    Great job!

  3. Spoken and edited like a true vlogger! Loved it! This book sounds very interesting and I am going to add it to my list of books to read :)

  4. Great vlog, Raelyn! I love that you chose a unique title that I personally have never heard of before! I am definitely adding this to my TBR pile! I love watching BookTube and other vlogs and yours is a wondering addition! I hope that you continue vlogging!

  5. Raelyn, this was awesome. Totally inspired me to try a vlog. You had a super cool voice and a really great connection, totally drew me in. Way to go!

  6. Great video post, Raelyn! I’ve had Moribito on my to-read list for a while. You’ve convinced me to dive in!
