Two Can Keep a Secret Cover

Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen McManus
Delacorte Press/Penguin Random House
Publication Date: January 8, 2019
ISBN: 978-1524714727

When Ellery and her twin brother Ezra are forced to travel to their mother’s remote Vermont hometown for the first time, they expect it to be grim: their aunt disappeared from the town when she was their age, and five years ago, another high school girl was murdered at the local horror theme park, Fright Farm. What they don’t expect is for yet another girl to go missing, or for sudden threats against the homecoming court to start popping up, threatening yet another murder if no one solves the mystery. When Ellery begins to try to solve the mystery of her aunt’s disappearance, she’s drawn into the complex web of secrets in the town.

The story, which is told in alternating chapters by Ellery and a boy named Malcolm (the younger brother of the suspected murderer), is filled with suspense and dread. While the three separate mysteries are at times difficult to track, the characters are engaging, and the twists and turns will surprise even a seasoned horror fan.

Readers who enjoyed thrillers such as There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins, and tv shows such as MTV’s Scream or Pretty Little Liars will find a great deal to love in this book.
