The YALSA Committee Form is Now Available!

Have you been following the nominees for Quick Picks, Amazing Audiobooks, Great Graphic Novels, and Best Fiction for Young Adults on the Hub? As you’ve likely seen, the blogging teams for each of those lists have been working hard reading, writing, and sharing posts about titles that have been nominated for each of these selected lists.

And maybe you’ve thought, “I want to be on one of those teams next year!”

If that sounds like you then get excited! Because your time has come!

Even though the final lists won’t be out until the end of the year, we’re already gearing up for next year’s blogging teams. The volunteer form is live — available here! Please complete this form by August 1, 2019.

FAQs:

What’s the time commitment for being on a blogging team?
Serving on a blogging team is a significant time commitment, similar to serving on an awards committee. You will read a lot of possible nominees, write blog posts (check past posts for examples of what these look like), and work with a team to put together the final list. Previous blogging team members found the experience to be rewarding, but many have commented that it ended up taking more time than they thought. Please consider this as you think about volunteering.

Do I have to go to Midwinter or Annual?
Nope! All work is done virtually.

Can I sign up for more than one blogging team?
You can only be on one team per year, however if there are several teams you are interested in, you can indicate all of them on the form. This can be helpful as there might be more or less interest in a specific team, so we can slot you into one of your choices. But please be sure to only indicate teams you’re actually interested in serving on.

Who will be in charge?
There will be a coordinator for each team, and the coordinators will work with the Hub member manager.

I was on a team last year and would like to participate again. Do I have to fill out the form?
Yes, please! However, please note that you are not able to serve on the same team for more than two years in a row.

I have a question that wasn’t addressed here!
As the cliched end-of-a-FAQ-comment goes, that is not a question. But feel free to reach out to Stephen Ashley, Hub member manager, at yalsahub [at] gmail [dot] com with other questions.
